July 28 Day 872: Gone Fishing

It’s been hot in the Pacific Northwest this week. To beat the heat, I took a walk along the waterfront as the sun was rising. Seems like others had the same idea. The place was bustling with joggers, bicyclists, and fisherfolk.

I was a little late getting up and so I missed the morning’s full color palette. Instead I would need to be satisfied with the rising sun and a faint orange hue. I’ve taken tons of pictures just like these before

or have I? Zoom in on the circles below. What do you see?

Definitely a creature…in fact two creatures—a harbor seal and a salmon battling in the circle of life.

The harbor seal won and enjoyed the freshest possible fish flesh meal.

Her success attracted the local seagulls who dive-bombed to grab their own pink morsel.

I do not fish myself, but now I know what the humans on the pier were hoping to catch. Tacoma, you never cease to amaze me. You’re beautiful.
