April 8 Day 761: A Virtual Friday Evening at #JMM2022

I enjoyed the Association for Women in Mathematics (AWM) poster session, business meeting, and award reception this evening. I love that they created a Gather space for the event. It was an opportunity to catch up with friends and celebrate accomplishments.

AWM is a mighty organization that empowered me to become a better leader. I was honored as an AWM Fellow along with 13 others, including Pamela Harris, Lauren Rose, and Betsy Yanik.

Virtual celebrations are not the same as being in person. There are no staged photographs with a firm handshake and a passing of a certificate. My attempt at an official “photo” of the award winners and AWM leadership is the screenshot below.

Congratulations one and all. So grateful to be included among your number.
