October 27 Day 963: Curious Minds Want to Know

Yes, I did make it home. Tuesday morning at 2:30 am, thirty-one hours later than planned.

The Portland flight was delayed and I missed my connection to Seattle. I did not want to stay at a hotel for another night. So I found a driver willing to face the 144 mile drive to Tacoma, WA at 12:30 am. He made the trip in a record 2 hours. I paid cash and tipped him well.

It is a trip I do not want to repeat. Sometimes things happen. Communication in the moment was great from the flight crew. It could have been better from the airport team but they were understaffed and overworked. I got home safely and that is what matters most. Plus, Alaska customer service was really responsive to my requests the next morning. They had my luggage delivered from SeaTac so I did not have to go up to retrieve it myself.

I am finally catching up. On my sleep. On my work. On my preparations for two Board meetings next week (only one of which I need to travel to thank goodness.)

All I ask is that I don’t have to stand in another line for a very long time.
