March 9 Day 731: Where Were You?

Are you aware that for me, this is the first day of the third year of the COVID-19 pandemic. Where were you two years ago today?

I was teaching my first class of the pandemic. (March 9 Day 1: Where Were the Students?) It was a Monday and UW Chancellor Ana Mari Cauce called for online emergency teaching the Friday before.

The 51st SEICCGTC was being held in person at Florida Atlantic University. Consequently many of the people attending the conference right now were also here then. There is a nice symmetry to that.

It feels like we are closer to the end. Mask mandates are expiring in a few days in Washington, Oregon, and California. Would you believe that we would still be masking and distancing two years later?

When did COVID impact your life? For some it was two years ago today. For others a week or two later. What do you remember?
