SUMM Exciting News

April 12, 2024. You might have noticed I haven’t posted in over two months. It’s not because I didn’t want to share. It’s more like I didn’t want to jinx anything.

Now everything is official. I can announce with excitement and gratitude that beginning in June 2024, I will become the Executive Director for the Seattle Universal Math Museum (SUMM).

Wait? What? Did I just say that Seattle has a Math Museum?

Yes. I did. In fact I mentioned it in 2021 October 1 Day 572: Coincidence? when I attended the opening of SUMM’s mathematical art exhibition. I believe that was SUMM’s first public event.

Currently, SUMM hosts events and interactive programming both virtually as well as in libraries, schools, and venues across Seattle and the South Sound. Ultimately, the plan is to build a permanent Seattle Universal Math Museum location. How exciting is that?

If I had to dream up a position that played to my strengths and aligned with my personal mission to make math engaging, accessible, and fun—I don’t believe I could have imagined anything better than this.

It will be a big change. I have so much to learn. And I can’t wait to get started.
