The first day of the Spring Mathematical Association of America Board of Directors meeting was devoted to strategic planning—facilitated by Cara Parker of Cara Parker Consulting. We were engaged, focused, and productive.
Sticky notes, flip charts, active meeting management. Time to think. Time to dream. Time to connect. Data, graphics, the works. It was everything I was hoping for and I am looking forward to reading a first draft in the not too distant future.
From the very beginning, it was clear that MAA is about its people and the mathematical communities they create. We participated with open minds, willing hearts, and a strong belief that mathematics can change the world.
