March 20 Day 12: Geek Squad Cred

I know my response to stress is to sleep. As I try to grade 15 twenty-page capstone papers, all my eyes want to do is close. I set a daily goal of grading five papers to ensure that I will be ready to compute final grades by Monday and assign them before Tuesday’s 5 pm deadline. I did not meet by goal today but rather than falling victim to House Hypnos, I forced myself to be productive in other ways.

Today, I am proud to announce that I earned my membership in the Geek Squad. I removed the old router and non-functioning switch and installed a brand new switch—enabling (all but 1) Ethernet ports throughout our house. We have lived here more than a dozen years and never needed to have them work. Wireless was sufficient. But during a pandemic with four adults relying heavily on internet use for educational purposes, it was time. Maybe when our social-can-be-less-distant, I will get someone in to run the blue cat 5e cable through the basement rather than along the walls, but for now I am tickled to have solved this problem
