October 7 Day 943: This One Is For My Mom

Recordings from MAA MathFest are now available on YouTube, the 2022 MAA MathFest Playlist. There were fantastic plenary talks but the one I want my Mom to see is the President’s IGNITE Celebration. I think she will enjoy it. Maybe you will too.

It is over an hour long. Perhaps you’d prefer to see particular IGNITE episodes and skip that obnoxious host. After all, the speakers were the best part of the evening. So here is the program with time codes to skip to your preferred destination.

  • Barbara Faires, Summer mathematics meetings (at 7:58)
  • Matt Boelkins, This episode is brought to you by the number 3 (at 15:33)
  • Vinod Chellamuthu, Thinking beyond the finish line via authentic learning (at 23:18)
  • Naiomi Cameron, A beginner’s guide to the Riordan group (at 29:44)
  • Recognition of members including a cameo of Annie Selden 65 year member! (at 35:47)
  • Max O’Hern, MAA HQ: Celebrating the new (at 47:00)
  • Ron Taylor, Math & color addition: What’s that image on my textbook? (at 53:57)
  • Allison Henrich, Matthew Pons, and Dave Taylor, There’s a fine line between critique & some mean sh*t: Real comments about real people and complex stuff (at 59:43)

This makes me long to go back to MAA MathFest. At least, there is always next year.
