March 28 Day 385: 101 Miles Away

What’s the furthest away from home you have been in the last month? Last six months? Last year?

Mark and I took a morning drive to Damon Point State Park, in Oceans Shores, 101 miles away from home. It was a chance to get familiar with the new car, escape from home, and hunt for agates. The drive was beautiful—if a little rainy and grey—and the company, delightful.

Weather did not cooperate as it was extremely windy at the Pacific Ocean. Sand streamed along the beach, making visible the steady air currents swirling around legs and over objects.

Our time in the elements was limited, yet our hunt for agates was surprisingly successful.

I’d like to return on a clear, less windy day. Next time before we go, I will check the weather forecast in addition to the tides. My toes are finally warm now that I have on dry, clean clothes. Regardless, I’m still glad for the adventure.
