MAA Focus is the newsmagazine of the Mathematical Association of America, edited by Jaqueline Jensen-Vallin. First, I want to thank Jackie for the tremendous job that she does putting the magazine together with support from managing editor and art director, Bev Ruedi, and the MAA Focus editorial board. The February-March Issue dropped today and I was just a little excited to see several projects appear.
- A report on the initial work of the MAA Taskforce for Advancing Inclusion in the Mathematics Sciences (aka MAA AIMS) including a request for feedback from members.
- Matt Boelkins’ interview with the new MAA President.
- And a transitional President’s Message on the State of the MAA authored by the current president and now-past- president of the association.
This particular issue had a strong “community” theme, one of four MAA values. Articles highlighted MAA’s Math Values blog (and its inaugural editor Deanna Haunsperger), Lathisms, and Mathematically Gifted and Black, and so much more. I’m looking forward to being able to hold and examine the printed pages sometime in the future.
