February 4 Day 333: By the Numbers

As a combinatorialist, I count things.

I am participating in a weekly remote mindfulness training through the UW Resiliency Lab and it is a breath of fresh air, literally. Of all the practices I have learned, the one where we count the length of our inhalations and extend it by +2 on the exhalation really resonated with me. I think because I was counting something.

So today I tallied up a few relevant numbers.

Number of minutes on Zoom270
Number of minutes on Gather60
Number of different whiteboard apps used (Limnu, JamBoard, Miro)3
Number of students absent from class2
Number of executive orders (still)0

Cover image is a screenshot of the second floor of the Snoqualmie building in gather.town. While waiting for students to arrive for today’s drop-in hour, I redecorated to celebrate Lunar New Year. Then to add realism to my 2D academic world, I included the Chinook Red Chihuly chandelier over the study table in the Chihuly room where is exists in real life. People should want to come and visit just to see the artwork.
