May 1 Day 54: Ask for help. Offer help.

Despite having written these words on March 13 Day 5, I’m not particularly good at asking for help for myself. I’m much better at asking for help for others.

A student contacted me saying that they were not going to be completing the online homework for a while and didn’t want to be penalized. As a non-essential worker, they no longer had a paycheck and they couldn’t justify the expense of access to the online text and homework system. Once the trial period ran out, they were done.

So I asked my text book representative for help. An access code arrived. I shared it with the student and welcomed them back to the class. I understand that textbook manufacturers can’t do this for everyone but I am grateful they came through for this one.
