March 31 Day 23: Thinking Forward

MAA Board of Directors shares a moment of levity in this epi(demi)c adventure. Mathematical Association of America

Reflection thinking forward. What will teaching look like when our “splendid isolation” is complete? As professionals, we are learning to be more flexible, more forgiving, and more humane. Will we revolt in exhaustion and technology overload, and return to past classroom practices? We will embrace remote learning never to return to the classroom again? Or will we adapt to a hybrid model—one where we gather in community to learn but a student who is sick, has family obligations, or just missed the bus, can  participate remotely? As for me, I miss the days of the first possibility. I abhor the second possibility. I favor the third. What about you?
