October 29 Day 235: In the Spirit

Halloween is fast approaching. This year there will be no Trick-or-Treating and for Tacoma’s North End, no Proctor Treats. I will miss the tradition where my math colleagues and I dress up as each other for our costumes. We do this in even numbered years:

Thankfully, the COVID resurgence doesn’t stop us from celebrating with each other. Tonight the UW Tacoma Teaching and Learning Center held a Spooky Trivia Night. There were lots of questions about vampires, pirates, ghosts, Harry Potter, and Sweden (scary, right?) plus some smelly science, electoral facts, and yes, even a math question or two. Even my office hours got into the act. Gather has added seasonally themed avatars (posted in the featured image above.) I can’t decide between the green-skinned witch or the mummy. Who would you choose to be?
