May 30 Day 83: I’m Sorry

Originally, I was planning to write this post about the cancellation of MathFest 2020. It was the right decision for all kinds of reasons and I am sorry its loss.

Yet it seems so insignificant compared to the events in Minneapolis. I keep flipping to the news—alternately feeling outrage and guilt but always sorrow.

I am sorry for the systemic racism that pervades our reality.

I am sorry for the fear that people of color live with daily.

I am sorry for the political circus that makes things worse.

Let us speak out when we can. Support those that we can. Work to be better and positively contribute where we can.
